It's... more of a lack of self-awareness? He's a very nice guy, but kind of a total coward on the, well, general responsibility front. Heaven did a number on him.

Kind of a sad sack, but he doesn't mean anybody any harm. And he might be coming around. When Heaven came for us, well, probably for Charlie, he did rise to the occasion.
You know, I never questioned shit before the day I fell, and even then, it wasn't a grand gesture, it was one hesitation. Not even a conscious choice. It's easy to believe the good side is whoever says they're good, but that means the first scrap of evidence that they're wrong breaks the whole thing forever.
